On April 2 at noon, don't miss the opportunity to meet Marie-Eve Naud, astrophysicist and science communicator at iREx, Institut Trottier de recherche sur les exoplanètes. Find out more about her exceptional career, her passion for the universe and her expert advice on how to make the most of the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
This captivating interview, aimed at teachers and those working with primary, secondary and college students, will take place live on the Parité sciences Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Parité sciences is an initiative created by a team of researchers at the Université de Montréal and funded by several government and private sponsors. Working with the Quebec education community, its aim is to increase the proportion of women in science, engineering, technology and mathematics.
The under-representation of women in scientific fields has persisted for too long. Studies have shown that this disparity perpetuates unconscious stereotypes and biases that don't reflect reality, including the misconception that women are less interested in science and engineering than men, or that they don't possess the same skills as men.
There are many reasons why young people are interested in science. For example, a rare and impressive phenomenon like the total solar eclipse, and the fascinating story of a woman in science like Marie-Eve Naud, could spark the interest of future astrophysicists. Join us in this interview to find out more about how we can use this unique astrophysical event to inspire young people!
This activity is an initiative of Parité sciences in collaboration with iREx, Institut Trottier de recherche sur les exoplanètes, the Centre de recherche en astrophysique du Québec (CRAQ) and the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic.
