Founders

Jean-François Arguin
Tenured Professor
University of Montreal
Jean-François Arguin joined the faculty of the Department of Physics at the University of Montréal in 2012. He was previously a researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, in the United States. He has organized several physics research events for college students and teachers. He has been a member of the Physical Diversity Committee of the University of Montreal since its inception. He completed a DEC at Cégep Garneau, in Quebec.
Mirjam Fines-Neuschild
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator
Concordia University
Mirjam Fines-Neuschild is the Senior Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Light-Matter Interactions at the Department of Physics at Université de Montréal. She holds a PhD in physics and communication focused on identity and inclusion in science, and leads research projects on EDI practices in scientific settings.


Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo
Associate professor
University of Montreal
Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo is a professor of physics at the University of Montreal. She specializes in the study of black holes and holds a Canada Research Chair. She is also co-founder of the Physical Diversity Committee of the University of Montreal. She completed a DEC at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal.

Jean-François Carrier
Advisor, Associate Professor under Grant
University of Montreal
Jean-François Carrier is a medical physicist at the CHUM and a researcher at the CHUM Research Center. He specializes in medical physics, both for radiation oncology and nuclear medicine. Since 2019, he has joined the faculty of the Department of Physics at the University of Montreal. He completed a DEC at Cégep de Sainte-Foy.

Maria Delgado
Director of Operations
Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and a graduate diploma (DESS) in social administration from Université de Montréal. She has over ten years of experience in project management across continuing, postsecondary, and community education sectors. She also brings strong experience in advisory roles in training, particularly in designing learning solutions for adult audiences.

Audrey Robillard
Communications Officer
Audrey holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from University of Sherbrooke, as well as a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in art history from Concordia University. She works to challenge established narratives in order to foster a more inclusive society. Having worked in research, museum settings, and nonprofit organizations, she is committed to amplifying inspiring voices and perspectives to deliver impactful, community-connected projects.


Rodrigue Khalil
Instructor
Rodrigue holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education, along with training in mathematics and physics. He has extensive experience teaching at the secondary level in a variety of contexts. A dynamic educator, he develops innovative and engaging approaches, particularly in robotics and educational technologies. Socially engaged, he is also recognized for his community involvement and his interest in equity in education.
Riya Dutta
Instructor
Riya holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in software engineering from Concordia University. She focuses on integrating equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles into technology development to design more inclusive digital products. Committed to advancing women in STEM, her work has earned her several recognitions in EDI, establishing her as an influential voice at the intersection of technology and social issues.


Blanche Mongeon
Research Assistant
Blanche Mongeon is a PhD student in biomathematics at Université de Montréal. She previously completed a double DEC in natural sciences and social sciences at Cégep du Vieux Montréal, followed by a joint bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science at UdeM. Her current research focuses on the development and optimization of preclinical mathematical models in oncology.
