CALL FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES


Trainer - High school or college teacher (on call)

IN PROGRESS


Position Type: Temporary and on call (renewable)

Schedule: Approximately 2.5 hours per week

Hourly rate: Between $50 and $100 per hour depending on experience

Remuneration: Professional fees - Travel and accommodation expenses are covered


Parité Sciences is a project of the Université de Montréal. This initiative uses an innovative approach by collaborating with Quebec educators to increase the proportion of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. To this end, Parité Sciences offers free training to stakeholders in Quebec's secondary and college institutions so that they can support female students in developing their scientific identity.


Contract Summary


The Parité Sciences trainer will be responsible for leading training sessions on the issues of underrepresentation of women in STEM and on teaching strategies to generate interest among female students in these fields. These sessions are intended for the secondary and college teaching community, including teaching staff, educational and guidance counselors, teaching assistants, science facilitators, and school administrators across Quebec.


Main responsibilities


  • Ensure the facilitation of in-person and/or remote training by following the trainer's guide

  • Adapt the content of the sessions according to the needs of the groups and the learning objectives

  • Carry out administrative tasks related to the organization, respecting directives and deadlines

  • Provide ongoing feedback on current programs

  • Contribute to the design and development of key training programs and educational materials as required

  • Participate in bi-monthly statutory meetings.


Required skills and experience


  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the secondary or college level in the disciplines of science, mathematics and technology

  • Basic knowledge and sensitivity to issues of equity, diversity and inclusion in science, with a strong motivation for these issues

  • Comfortable with computer tools, including PowerPoint, Teams and Zoom

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French

  • Initial training in STEM (an asset)

  • Good knowledge of the principles of adult learning (an asset)

  • Bilingualism (an asset).
